A SUCCESSFUL ARNHEM MODE BIËNNALE, WITH MORE THAN 31,000 VISITORS, DRAWS TO A CLOSE

Monday 9 November 2009

The highly successful third edition of the Arnhem Mode Biënnale, which explored the theme of SHAPE, drew to a close on Sunday, July 5.

Some 150 fashionable garments by designers from the Netherlands and beyond made the significance of the overarching SHAPE theme abundantly clear and exemplified why ‘form' is so topical in fashion. Besides the main exhibition there were dozens of satellite presentations, socially engaged projects, fashion shows, temporary shops, a symposium, workshops and a grand fashion bazaar, all of which were highly accessible to professionals and the interested public alike. The diversity of venues and events included in the world's biggest cultural fashion event attracted a multitude of visitors.

The third edition of the biennale was received enthusiastically by Dutch and international media. The participating designers were also impressed by the surprising, content-rich presentations. Visitors were taken aback by the pavilions set five metres above the ground and by the diversity of designers whose work was presented in and around the Eusebius Church.

The next edition of the Arnhem Mode Biënnale will be staged in 2011.
